10 Questions in Quarantine with: Mark "Munch" Bishop

Mark “Munch” Bishop has worked in TV and Radio for over 39 years. Although, Bishop claims to have never worked a day in his life. “Munch” is a fixture in the Cleveland sports scene hosting pregame shows for both the Indians and Browns and having his own drive-time sports talk that can be heard anywhere in the world on iHeartRadio on Fox Sports 1350 in Ohio. Bishop has been a friend of NYYST since our infancy and now it’s time for 10 Questions in Quarantine with Mark “Munch” Bishop.

While stuck in quarantine, if you could only watch three movies, which three would you pick?

Saving Private Ryan Animal House Major League

What is your favorite TV show of all-time?

It’s a tie between All in the Family and Sanford and Son.

What is the best concert you have ever attended?

JOHNNY CASH (Cain Park Cleveland Summer 1996)

What is your favorite meal?

Bone-in Rib Eye steak with sautéed onions and mushrooms, asparagus, onion & tomato salad

What was your first part time job?

Delivering newspapers (Cleveland Press afternoon daily)

Did you have a hidden talent you’d like to tell the readers about? If not, what is your favorite hobby?

Going to baseball games

What is your favorite sports moment as a fan?

Going to Indians opening days with my Dad. Did not miss any from first grade on. School was strict then but he would send a note and not mince words! Would say “I am taking my son to the Indians opener and I will be here at Noon to get him.”

If you didn’t have a career in the media and broadcasting on the radio, what do you think your career would be?

Professor at the College level

You’ve been rocking the Cleveland sports scene for a long time. We know that outside of the Cavaliers winning the NBA Championship in 2016, the city has been starved for titles. Which would mean more to the city: The Browns winning a Super Bowl or the Indians winning a World Series?

Sadly – yup I said that – BROWNS hands down. Fans are best and worst in the world. Every year the team is going to playoffs – even leading into 1-15 and 0-16! Fans make every excuse in the world for them. All the Indians do is WIN…and keep WINNING…but not enough.

What is the one baseball player that you never had a chance to see play or only got to see them at the tail end of their career that you wish you could’ve seen their entire career?

Tie (no doubt) MANTLE and MAYS (Saw Mantle a few times near the end.)
