Yankees beat up on Dodgers to start off Players Weekend

August 24, 2019

In a potential World Series preview, the New York Yankees pummeled the Los Angeles Dodgers in the series opener en route to a 10-2 win.

The win also snapped a four game losing streak.

Didi Gregorius had a huge day at the plate, hitting two home runs, including a grand slam in the fifth inning to blow the game open. Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, and Gleyber Torres also hit home runs as well.

Sanchez’s home run was the 100th of his career as he became the second fastest player in MLB history to reach that mark.

James Paxton earned the win, striking out 11 batters over six and two-thirds innings of work while giving up just two runs.

The Yankees will look to continue their momentum with C.C Sabathia on the mound tomorrow afternoon.
