Behind a good outing from Masahiro Tanaka and a four-run ninth inning, the New York Yankees beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-1.
With the win, the Yankees pulled within a half-game of the Rays for first place in the American League East.
Tanaka pitched seven innings and struck out seven batters while allowing just one run to earn his third win of the season.
Thairo Estrada went 1-4 with a solo home run and Gio Urshela drove in two runs on a double in the ninth inning. Austin Romine, Mike Tauchman and Luke Voit each scored two runs.
The Yankees will return home tomorrow for a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles. Jonathan Loaisiga will start tomorrow night for the Yankees.
