Yankees notch 6th straight win, comeback against the Angels

April 25, 2019

Despite falling behind 5-0 in the fourth inning, the New York Yankees scored six unanswered runs and came all the way back to beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-5 for their sixth straight win.

The comeback started in the sixth inning with DJ LeMahieu’s RBI double that scored Tyler Wade. Later in the same inning, Gleyber Torres drove in LeMahieu on a RBI groundout to trim the Angels lead to 5-2.

In the top of the seventh inning, the Yankees cut into the Angels lead once again on a bases loaded walk from Wade. LeMahieu would follow that up with a sacrifice fly that trimmed the lead to 5-4. Luke Voit would then tie up the game on a fielder’s choice that scored Mike Tauchman.

In the top of the ninth inning with two outs, LeMahieu would come through again with a RBI single that scored Wade to put the Yankees up 6-5.

Aroldis Chapman would work around a walk to earn his fourth save of the season and secure the Yankees sixth straight win.

LeMahieu had a huge day at the plate, going 2-4 with three RBIs and one run scored. Wade was also a main contributor, going 2-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Jonathan Loaisiga earned his first win of the season, as he pitched three shutout innings in relief.

The Yankees will look for the sweep tonight, as they send Masahiro Tanaka to the mound.
