Yankees top Angels 4-3 in 14 innings
Gio Urshela drove in two runs in extra innings to help lead the New York Yankees past the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
With the game tied at 2-2 in the top of the 12th inning, Urshela hit a sacrifice fly to score Clint Frazier and put the Yankees up 3-2. The Angels would come back to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning on Brian Goodwin’s RBI single off of Aroldis Chapman.
In the 14th inning with two runners on base and two outs, Urshela drove in his second run of the game—this time with a RBI single that scored Gleyber Torres. Jonathan Holder closed out the game to secure the Yankees 4-3 win.
J.A Happ turned in his second straight quality start, pitching seven innings and just giving up two runs on Jonathan Lucroy’s two-run home run in the second inning. Holder pitched two shutout innings to earn his first win of the season.
With the win, the Yankees have a four game winning streak and have won six out of their last seven games.
Jonathan Loaisiga will get called up again from Triple-A to make the start tonight at 10 AM ET for the Yankees.
