Yankees acquire OF Mike Tauchman from Rockies

Following today's spring training game, the Yankees announced they have traded left-handed pitcher, Phillip Diehl to the Colorado Rockies for outfielder Mike Tauchman.

Tauchman is a 28 year old left handed hitter, capable of playing center field according to manager Aaron Boone. Boone indicated Tauchman might break camp with the Yankees.

In 112 games in the minors last year, Tauchman hit .323/.408/.571. While he does bring in extra depth for the Yankees in the outfield, and a left handed bat while the switch hitting Aaron Hick's is injured, it's a curious move as the Yankees liked Diehl quite a bit. Additionally, the Yankees also just sent outfielder Clint Frazier to AAA, so bringing a minor league player over to possibly play in the outfield is interesting.

If Tauchman breaks camp with the Yankees will Greg Bird or Tyler Wade lose their spot on the roster? Right now, there are more questions than answers regarding this move and the Yankees' opening day intentions.
