Just prior to the start of today's spring training game against the Braves, Luis Severino was scratched. The Yankees indicated he was experiencing pain in his right shoulder while warming up to pitch. Severino was sent for an MRI which revealed rotator cuff inflammation. The Yankees announced Severino will receive an injection, anti-inflammatory medications, and will not pitch for 2 weeks before they re-evaluate him. Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated it is "highly unlikely" Severino will start opening day. No decision has been made yet as to who will start in his place.
