Happ official; Parker Bridwell designated for assignment

The Yankees officially announced today they have signed free agent, J.A. Happ to a two-year deal (with an option for a 3rd year). Happ will earn $34 million over the course of the contract.

In order to make room for Happ on the 40-man roster, the Yankees designated right handed pitcher, Parker Bridwell for assignment. The Yankees had acquired Bridwell off of waivers from the Angels in November. Bridwell, 27, pitched in 20 games for the Angels in 2017, going 10-3, with a 3.64 ERA. He only started one game in his five appearances in 2018, allowing 13 runs in 6.2 innings on the year.

Happ is coming off an impressive year where he set career-best totals in strikeouts (193) and WHIP (1.13). His 17 wins tied for the fourth most in the AL
