Yankees pummel Marlins, 12-1 in Bronx
The New York Yankees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning and went on to beat the Miami Marlins 12-1.
Luis Severino earned the win, allowing just one hit over six innings and struck out eight. Severino is now 3-1 this season.
Didi Gregorius went 2-4 with his two hits being a two run home run and solo shot. Gary Sanchez also had a big day at the plate, going 3-4 with three RBIs.
Aaron Judge made history in the third inning, as his home run made him the quickest player to ever reach 60 home runs. He reached that feat in 197 games, which broke Mark McGwire’s previous record of hitting 60 home runs in 202 games.
Tomorrow the Yankees will turn to Masahiro Tanaka as they look to sweep the Marlins in their brief two game series.
