Giancarlo Stanton made his official Yankee debut today, belting two home runs. The first of the year left his bat at 117.3 mph, making it the hardest hit opposite field home run by any player since Statcast was created. The second, hit off of former Yankee, Tyler Clippard, traveled 434 feet. Stanton got the silent treatment from his teammates when he returned to the dugout. According to Dellin Betances, that was Brett Gardner's idea.
Stanton said he was glad to get the first one out of the way early.
The first of many more to come.
