Miguel Andujar continues to impress as his 6th inning home run helped lead the Yankees to another win, making them 5-0 in Spring Training, as well as the only undefeated team left in the Grapefruit League. Danny Espinosa also homered, in the 4th inning, as he looks to solidify a roster spot come April. Chad Green made his Spring Training debut as a starter, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 3 over 1.2 innings of work.
Toronto scored first with a solo home run from Ex-Yankee Russell Martin and looked to be in control, until a pair of runs in the 6th/7th innings shrunk the lead to just 1. Yankees then had a monster 5-run 8th, which was capped off with a bases clearing double by Mark Payton. Toronto scored a run in the 8th, followed by 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but ultimately came up short resulting in a 9-8 Yankee victory.
The Yankees look to improve on their 5-0 record as they take on the Detroit Tigers tomorrow (1pm EST) for the 2nd time this spring, which will also include Aaron Judge’s debut as Boone looks to slowly work him back into play.
