The slumping New York Yankees limp home now trailing the red hot Boston Red Sox by 4.5 games in the American League East. The last thing this team needed was another injury, yet that’s exactly what they are dealing with. The club announced today that LHP CC Sabathia will be placed on the 10 day DL with knee inflammation. Sabathia lasted just three innings in the 4-2 loss in Toronto Tuesday night. CC surrendered a pair of two run homers to former AL MVP Josh Donaldson in those three innings. Despite CC’s MRI coming back clean, the team will still place the veteran lefty on the DL for the second time this season.

With Sabathia on the DL, Jordan Montgomery’s time on the farm is short lived. The Rookie LHP, who is having a strong opening campaign (7-6 4.05 ERA), has been called up from AAA Scranton. Jordan currently leads all American League rookies in wins (7) and strike outs (111). Montgomery was sent down in part because he was the odd man out with the acquisitions of Jaime Garcia and S...

The Yankee Universe experienced something in 2016 that they haven't in many, many years.  After a long, grueling series in Tampa, where the Yankees were swept by the Rays in a 3 game set at the end of July, Yankee fans woke up to the breaking headline that Andrew Miller was dealt to the Cleveland Indians.  It was the first time since before the dynasty of the late 90's that the 27 time World Series Champion New York Yankees decided to sell at the trade deadline.  As difficult as it may have been to accept, a weight was lifted in the Yankee franchise, and it was time to finally rebuild.

As players began reporting to spring training for the 2017 season, the Yankees, for the first time in decades, weren't expected to ruffle any feathers in the American League.  Expectations went from winning a World Series to nurturing young prospects and getting them ready for the big leagues.  The season began and the New York Yankees went 1-4 in their first 5 games.  It was going to be a long season, an...

The New York Yankees enjoy an off day after splitting a four game series in Cleveland, which included winning the last two games. While they do that, let’s take a look as some newsworthy items coming out of the Bronx.

(Jordan Montgomery - NYPost.com)

-After yesterday’s 8-1 victory in Cleveland, the Yankees announced that Starting Pitcher Jordan Montgomery was sent down to Triple A Scranton. Montgomery is 7-6 with a 4.05 ERA with the Yankees in 2017. Despite being a rookie, Montgomery was one of the Yankees more consistent starting pitchers this season. He had struggled of late, but pitched well giving up 1 run over five innings during Saturday’s win in Cleveland. After an efficient 65 pitch outing, manager Joe Girardi elected to pull Montgomery and go to his very deep bullpen to try and snap their [then] four game losing streak.

Montgomery being sent down is a simple case of “odd man out”, which the Yankees may face again shortly with outfielder Clint Frazier. After the tr...

For the first time all season the Yankee offense is causing them crucial games and has landed them on a four game skid after two tough losses in Cleveland.  Aaron Judge has morphed back into the player we saw in 2016, Matt Holliday is in a slump so bad that you can argue he was more valuable on the DL, and Clint Frazier has lost his touch in clutch situations.
